Amyloidosis is a complicated disorder that affects multiple body systems including an individual’s bone marrow, heart, kidneys, nervous system, lungs, skin and gastrointestinal (GI) system. To address the complexity of this disorder, University of Utah offers a multidisciplinary program where patients are evaluated by various amyloidosis specialists from different disciplines over a short period of time. This team of doctors and other medical staff work together to form a customized and comprehensive plan to addresses patient’s needs and desires. The Amyloidosis Program is aimed to not only treat the disease but to improve overall quality of life of the patients also.

The program staff works together with each patient individually to create a treatment plan that best suits their needs. Treatment can include medications, lifestyle changes, chemotherapy, or, if needed, organ transplant.
