Julia earned her MS in Genetic Counseling from UC Irvine in 2007 and was certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) in 2009. She is a Genetic Counselor for the Stanford Amyloid Center and sees patients and families with genetic cardiomyopathies. She is also a Clinical Assistant Professor (Affiliated) for the Stanford Genetic Counseling program, where she lectures for the molecular genetics, cardiovascular genetics, and psychosocial counseling courses.
 
Julia has a strong interest in mitochondrial genetics and, before coming to Stanford in 2010, worked as a research genetic counselor and in a clinical molecular laboratory setting. She has provided lectures in the biochemical genetics and molecular biology courses. She is a member of the admissions committee and was involved in clinical supervision for the biochemical genetics program, and plans to continue clinical supervision for cardiovascular genetics rotations.
