The Professor Michael Lewis Goldberg TRIO Scholarship Program
TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization) is an independent, not-for-profit, international organization committed to improving the quality of life of transplant candidates, recipients, their families and the families of organ and tissue donors.
Beginning with the 2018 school year, a matching fund for this TRIO scholarship has been established by the Irving Goldberg family in loving memory of their son, Michael Goldberg, a kidney/pancreas transplant recipient who died in 2016 waiting for a second transplant.
Each year, TRIO’s Scholarship Program gives thousands of dollars in academic grants to members and their families. In the past 22 years TRIO has awarded approximately 145 scholarships to deserving students who are transplant candidates, recipients, donors or their family members. These scholarships are generously funded by several TRIO chapters, individuals and interested organizations. Each recipient receives $1,000 toward their education at colleges and universities throughout the United States.
