Cardiac amyloidosis is increasingly recognised as an important cause of heart failure and increased left ventricular wall thickness.
Historically, echocardiographers were taught to look for a “granular sparkling” appearance of the myocardium. However, this feature is no longer considered a reliable or specific marker of cardiac amyloidosis and is not emphasised in modern echocardiographic assessment.
