Rafael Fonseca is a clinical investigator for the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Fund. Dr. Fonseca earned his medical degree at Universidad Anahuac, Mexico. He completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami, Florida, and a Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Fonseca's research interests are in conditions such as multiple myeloma and related disorders, cytogenetics and amyloidosis.
Dr. Fonseca is a fellow of the International Society of Hematology and is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology. He has developed an expertise in the management of plasma cell disorders. His clinical practice is primarily composed of patients with multiple myeloma, primary amyloidosis, and monoclonal gammopathy.
