In 2002, my mom was diagnosed with familial cardiac amyloidosis

Details

In 2002, my mom was diagnosed with familial cardiac amyloidosis and was given about 18 months to live. By God’s divine miracle (which I will explain in another post) she underwent a heart transplant in 2005 at the Mayo Clinic and received a new heart from a 32 y.o. donor because no one matched the donor’s B+ blood type except her. As we have been preparing for her final days, my sister came across this journal entry shortly after her transplant where she prayed for grandkids to use her new heart with. While she had to wait until the age of 80 to become a first time grandmother, she cherished each and every day with her precious gifts who she referred to as her “sunshine” and who gave her daily joy and purpose to pray for them continuously. She has cherished every lasting minute together as have her “sunshine” grandkids who affectionately called her “Hami”.
