SGLT2i therapy reduces all-cause mortality and hospitalizations in transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM), according to a study being presented at Heart Failure 2026.
“The evidence supporting sodium–glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) in heart failure (HF) secondary to transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) remains scarce and fragmented across small observational series,” the researchers wrote.
In this retrospective cohort study, researchers analyzed 111 patients with ATTR-CM, comparing those treated with SGLT2i with those not treated, using a systematic search of CENTRAL, Scopus, EMBASE, and PubMed. The key outcome of interest was defined as all-cause mortality (ACM). The secondary end points were defined as heart failure hospitalizations (HFH) and the composite of ACM and HFH.
