Vutrisiran Demonstrates Consistent Safety and Efficacy in East Asian Patients With ATTR-CM

The safety and efficacy of vutrisiran are consistent with those observed in the overall population of East Asian patients treated in the phase 3 clinical trial HELIOS-B, which tested the treatment in patients with transthyretin-mediated amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM).

Results from the trial had already shown that vutrisiran significantly reduced all-cause mortality and recurrent cardiovascular events while preserving functional capacity and quality of life in patients with ATTR-CM.

Here, a team of researchers from Japan, Korea, and the US assessed the safety and efficacy of the treatment in East Asian patients via a post-hoc analysis that included 32 patients from Japan and South Korea. Of these, 17 were treated with vutrisiran, while 15 were given a placebo.
