Starting the medical trial for younger carriers of ATTRcm gene but no evidence of active misfolded amyloid. The goal is to determine if the medication can not only delay the progression but stop the misfolding altogether.
I am participating in a 7-year double blind study so I don't know if I have the medication or the placebo.
I am excited to participate. My mother passed away 2 years ago from this deadly disease. Me, my sister and female first cousins all have to gene. I am 60 years old and the oldest girl.
I am prayerful that this will help generations to come.
