Details

• Cardiac amyloidosis occurs due to deposition of misfolded proteins in the myocardium → leads to restrictive cardiomyopathy.

• Typical features:
→ Normal LV systolic function & cavity size
→ Diastolic dysfunction → heart failure symptoms

• Two main types:
→ AL (Light-chain) amyloidosis
→ ATTR (Transthyretin) amyloidosis
