summary/abstract

Patients should tell the medical staff about any diarrhea they experience. Medications such as opioids (codeine and loperamide) may help by reducing gut motility. Octreotide may be prescribed if these do not help. If there is bacterial overgrowth in the gut, antimicrobial therapy can be helpful.
