The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine educates medical students, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to practice patient-centered medicine, to study the prevention and treatment of disease, and to excel in health care delivery and in the basic sciences.

Johns Hopkins neurologist Michael Polydefkis is one of the few neurologists in the United States who specialize in treating hATTR amyloidosis. Johns Hopkins research into the rare disease leads to approval of the first drug that can halt its progression.
